Letter of Accreditation
Congratulations to you and the rest of the Sweeney Youth Homes
family for successfully completing the California Alliance of Child
and Family Services Accreditation process. Your commitment to the California
Alliance Accreditation reflects your dedication to providing the highest
quality services to children and families and living up to standards
that go beyond the minimums imposed by licensing regulations. The active
and open participation in the process by everyone at the agency was
greatly appreciated by the review team and Membership Committee.
The California Alliance's system of evaluating our agencies against
standards of excellence has benefited our clients, our individual member
agencies, and our agencies as a group. Thank you for being a part of
this tradition and for helping to keep it alive and well.
Letter from a recent resident
"Dear Sharon and Randy,
I just wanted to write to you so that I can show a bit of gratitude.
As you know I have worked very hard during my stay here at Sweeney Youth
Homes. And finally, I am able to graduate. But before I go, I would
like to thank you for all the support you have given me along the way.
Also, I want to thank you for the beautiful gift that you gave me for
graduating your program. I love the bright coloring of the cups, and
I am sure they will receive much use when I get my own place.
I promise to keep in touch. Thank you once again for everything. Take
Care."

Letter of Support
"My wife and I received an 'Urgent Notice Concerning Your Neighborhood'
flyer which profoundly upsets both of us. It appears that because one
owner wants to rent a house to an organization which places 'troubled'
teenage girls, we should band together to make sure these hoodlums don't
come to our neighborhood.
As a child, some of my early memories are of the San Diego Children's
Home. These memories are often dreadful. My brothers and sisters and
I were put in foster homes. Eventually we were all put together in one
foster home and we were never kicked out of our neighborhood. We also
had good foster parents who never gave up on us, instilling a work ethic
and moral values. My three brothers and I became doctors, my sisters
are hardworking professionals, and all of us are good examples for our
community.
An opportunity for 'troubled' young people to get out of areas which
are dangerous and depressing should be encouraged! This could be the
best home they ever lived in, the safest community, the best school.
One home owner personally knows someone who interviewed Sweeney Youth
Homes and was told the kids were coming from LA and San Jose, and suddenly
neighbors are slipping into a mob mentality without even giving these
girls a chance to prove themselves. These are valuable lives! We have
an opportunity to rise to the occasion and help them become honorable,
decent people or we can throw them away, pass them onto the next community,
or back to the slums where they have no chance.
My family and I will never sign a petition stating this organization
cannot reside in our neighborhood, and I resent anyone stating that
this type of facility is not appropriate. I certainly believe these
kids deserve a chance in a safe, secure environment."

"I'm writing you this letter to tell you guys how much I appreciated
your help and all the work you put in for me. I learned alot being here,
I learned how to get along with people and I realized how much I do
appreciate my family and my house and more, but that takes to long to
explain, so this letter is a little short because I don't know how to
explain myself that well but the bottom line is I just wanted to tell
you that I love you and I'll miss you guyz. I'll always remember you.
Thank you for guiding me into this wonderful life that I have."
