Mission Statement
Sweeney Youth Homes' mission is to stop the generational
cycle of abuse by helping the whole family if at all possible. We
offer counseling for the parents, the victim in the family, and
the resident. We also teach the residents about their future responsibilities
in becoming an adult toward their children.
Our Goal
We provide residential treatment for emotionally
disturbed adolescents ages 12 through 18. We are licensed to provide
services for 6 children per home and presently have 4 homes throughout
Santa Barbara County. We accept residents placed through the Department
of Probation, Department of Children's Services, the Department
of Mental Health and Adoptions.
Our Process
We hire and train staff members who consistently
work toward helping the residents to be the best they can be in
whatever positive behavior they choose. Each house has a Child Care
Supervisors and Child Care Workers. S Each resident receives individual
therapy, group therapy, sexual offender therapy, and family therapy.
Specialty groups such as sex education and anger management are
also offered. We have on staff two licensed clinical psychologists,
licensed MFT's, LCSW's and master degree interns. We have two psychiatrists
that provide psychiatric and medication evaluations. Therapy consists
of discussing why they are in a group home, what they can do to
change their life and how to achieve results. They discuss their
own individual concerns, past traumas and emotional, physical and
sexual abuse. The homes for sexual issues provide a workbook concerning
sexual issues and offenses for the residents.
